offcam

06 / privacy

your words stay yours.

your recordings, transcripts, and everything offcam writes from them live on your device and in your own google drive. our servers keep counters and billing state, not your content.

that isn't a policy promise. it's the architecture, and you can check it. the technical version is below, for anyone who wants it.

what lives where

the technical version

the app can only see files it created, the drive.file scope enforced by google's oauth, not by our goodwill.

on our servers, exactly

  • titles, durations, buckets, and stages
  • usage counters, plan and billing state
  • never audio. never transcripts. never drafts

what passes through, without staying

  • transcription: audio is sent over an encrypted connection, transcribed, returned to your device, and discarded
  • content generation: transcript text is sent for the request, and the result comes back to your device
  • video export: audio and your background photo go to temporary storage for rendering, then get cleaned up. the finished mp4 waits in cloud storage for you to download

what we don't claim

we don't claim end-to-end encryption, and we don't claim zero-knowledge. our claim is simpler and checkable: we don't store your content. it travels encrypted, gets processed, and comes back to your device.

one honest trade-off: content living on your device means clearing your browser data can delete it. connect google drive and everything backs up, as you go, to a drive you own. it's the setup we recommend on day one.

questions

what happens if i lose my phone?

connect google drive and your recordings, transcripts, and drafts back up to your own drive as you go. sign in on a new device, reconnect drive, and they come back. offcam keeps no copy of your content, so drive backup is the setup we recommend.
